Launching Leaping Lola in Australia

Updated: Aug 5, 2019

On a freezing winter's day, (and there was sleet) with the temperature hovering at 6 degrees, I rugged up and set off to Harry Hartog Bookshop, Woden.

It was time to introduce my new release to this side of the world with a special reading of Leaping Lola illustrated by the very talented Anil Tortop.

You can visit Anil's website here https://aniltortop.com

I love, love, love Anil's illustrations. They bring the pages alive with movement and emotion and plenty of giggles.

These are my Pearl the Pig wooden spoons.

Although we didn't do any dancing this time around, those who attended were rewarded with lolly bags filled with milk bottles (of course it had to be milk bottles seeing it was a book about a cow) and decorated with Pearl the Pig spoons.

(If you want to make your own Pearl wooden spoon- you can find the instructions in the teaching notes on New Frontier Publishing's UK website https://www.newfrontierpublishing.co.uk/books/leaping-lola .)

Have a go, it is lots of fun.

I was delighted to meet with friends and local authors I hadn't seen in many months (that's because I had been off travelling around the world ). The bookshop filled with our excited chatter as we exchanged news and all gathered to admire my new book.

Here I am with fellow authors- (L-R) Tania McCartney, Cate Whittle and Sally Murphy

Of course I couldn't go to Lola's ball without the right outfit on.

That had to include a fluffy white feather boa, a crown floral headdress and black & white jeans that just happen to look like I have spilt milk on them.

Book signing is such a special time.

Thank you to Harry Hartog bookshop for having me along.
